It's heartening and inspiring to see how Tina has come a long way in a short period of time.. For someone who started off as a stylist and part-time model w/o a background in photography, to doing wedding shoots and being so comfortable with a camera and it shows in the way she frames shots now.. She's certainly the better of Matt's two "students" so far, combining attitude, substance and a willingness to be humble and to learn.. I kinda wonder which student really needs the "educating" and which one needs the "challenge".. Anyway, great job, girl~!
Amazing improvements in version 6. I'm using Cactus V4 and they are way more basic than V6 but are still very satisfying for my needs. V6 is also 50% more expensive than V5.
Matt, It's really been fun to see how far Tina has come with the photography. A Great student with an even better teacher. I'm planning on teaching my girlfriend a bit about video and photography to see if she takes a liking to it. I'll be using some of your techniques and videos as training tools.
Interesting product. I didn't even know it existed until this video. I'd love to see you do more tests with it. Also, bring your workshop to Houston, TX!
looks a interesting set up, i been using the youngnuo 622c radio triggers which are fantastic , you can alter the power of the flashes from the camera menu , have channels and groups and if you use it it even has ETTL. A real challenge to the PW range !
Great video; I use these with an Olympus system as well as the Nikon and they all work together really well.
Got one about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately I havent been by the house in 2 months so right now its just setting on the desk waiting. I hadn't heard very much about it but what the description said peaked my interest enough along with the price that I desided to go ahead and buy it. After watching your review i cant wait to try it out. Looks like it may be better then what I was expecting.
I have been using the cactus v5's for a few years now and I haven't had any problems, if the v6 is as good then I'm going to change. I like that I can just change the settings from the camera and since I'm a budget photographer the price is right up my alley.
Hey Matt, I've just swapped my Nikon system for a Micro Four Thirds. I wasn't using my DSLR much due to it's size and weight so I've down sized to something that I'll carry all day every day. My problem is I need something more than the built in flash and I'm now wondering if the Cactus gear would work with my new Lumix GX7.
Hi Matt, are you still using the v6 and rf60s ?
I just purchase the system and Works fantastic. I am using 3 Cactus RF60 and a 3 Youngnuo on Fuji XE-1 and XT-1, just great system
Got a couple of Cactus v5 tranceivers that work pretty well with some caveats.
Matt, I recently got a set four Cactus v6's from Image Melbourne and luv 'em. I was like you and didn't read the instructions before trying them out. It took me a few minutes to work out why I couldn't adjust the power on the flash remotely. I then realised that you need to have them in TTL mode ... ;-)
that is absolutely brilliant. I'm seeing PocketWizards trouble compounded significantly by this thing...
Apart from price, what are the differences between this and the Pocket Wizard with the AC3?
Very nice video Matt. Nice product from Cactus. Does that mean you have to buy multiple V6's because I read you can also use V5's from their website? What do you recommend.
Hey Matt. Any chance you'll be doing a review of the new Yongnuo 560tx with the 560III's anytime in the near future?
I have 5 of these and the worst purchase I've made. I did a shoot yesterday with 2 Canon and 2 Yongnuo 600EX- RT's and they did not fire off the flash very well at all. I have the ST-E3-RT Canon controller and that worked perfectly, but as we were using different brands of camera, I tried to use these. They did not fire every time and it was so frustrating. Think I will have to put them on EBay unless I can find the problem.
Also does the flash have to be ETTL for the V6 to control it's output?
I may be replacing my pocketwizards after watching your video, Cactus look quite reliable.... and way cheaper off course.
